When people ask me the benefits of becoming a business owner, one of the first things I’ll always say is, ‘taxes.’
It’s the number one expense by a country mile.
Here's the truth:
The reward for going to school and getting a good job:
Paying taxes on your salary, then paying taxes on the post-tax money you spend, then paying taxes on the things you bought and own that you already paid taxes on using your money that you already paid taxes on.
Then the government raises your taxes.
Zoinx. (can you relate?)
Businesses/owners have to pay taxes too, but there are MANY items that you'll get as deductions including travel, meal expenses, home office, rent, utilities, insurance and more . . .
… remember, all accountants are not created equal.
