People tell me I'm the "eternal optimist". But I have to tell you I've been struggling the past few weeks. I'm sure the election and all of the drama around it was a big factor. But I'm back again.
This post is NOT about the election or the results. But it is about more of what I'm hearing out there such as "I just can't seem to get motivated." "I feel depressed."
If you're feeling the same way recently . . .
. . . ask yourself these questions (establish this as your baseline):
1. On a percentage basis are you focused more on past, present or future events?
2. On a percentage basis how much time do you spend focused on what you have in your life versus how much time you spend on what you do not have in your life (on what’s missing)?
3. On a percentage basis, are you focused more on what you can or what you can’t control?
I don’t care what drugs the Doctor prescribes you . . .
. . . if you’re focused on what’s missing, what you can’t control and past decisions and situations that upset you. You’re going to be depressed. At a minimum, experience, anxiety and restlessness. Btw . . .
A friend of mine is on anti-depressants and is still depressed. The kicker . . .
The side effects of the drugs she takes: Anger, agitation, insomnia, aggression and suicidal thoughts.
Zoinx.
BTW Depression is REAL and I’m not in any way, shape or form suggesting it’s not.
That being said, I believe an insane number of people are depressed . . . that don’t need to be if they shift their psychology in a small strategic way. You heard it here first.
